
Hans Jörg Rheinberger
Hans Jörg Rheinberger was born in Grabs, Switzerland, in 1946 and is a natural scientist, historian of science and poet from Liechtenstein. He completed his degree in philosophy with a Magister Artium in 1973 and his degree in biology in 1982 with a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.). In 1987, he qualified as a professor in molecular biology. Rheinberger has taught and conducted research at, amongst others, the Technical University and Free University of Berlin, Stanford University, the Universities of Lübeck and Salzburg, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and Northwestern University in Evanston. From 1997 to 2014, he was Director of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. He now lives and works in Berlin. He has been writing and publishing poetry for 50 years.
