Virgil Botnaru

Virgil Botnaru (born 8 August 1988 in Sângerei) is a Moldovan poet, prose writer, essayist, screenwriter and cultural journalist. He graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Alecu Russo State University of Bălți and researched the aesthetics of ugliness in Romanian poetry from post-1990 Bessarabia. He has produced audiovisual materials promoting books and reading and is a member of the Writers’ Union of Moldova. His debut collection, Return to Innocence, received both the Chișinău International Book Fair Prize and the Writers’ Union of Moldova Debut Prize.
