Larisa Turea

Larisa Turea (born 29 February 1952 in Călinești, Fălești) is a journalist, essayist and theatre and film critic. She graduated in Journalism from Moldova State University in 1974 and completed professional fellowships in France and the United States. She has worked in the cultural press, cultural administration and as literary secretary of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre. She is a member of the Writers’ Union of Moldova and the International Association of Theatre Critics. Her landmark work, The Book of Famine, draws on documents and testimonies about the organised famine in Soviet Bessarabia.
