
Kristina Andres
Kristina Andres was born in 1971 in Greifswald, Germany. After studying art history and literature for several semesters in Hamburg, she transferred to the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, where she earned her degree in Fine Arts with a focus on painting and drawing under Olav Christopher Jenssen. Since 2002, she has been working as a freelance artist and author.
Andres is known for her numerous children’s books, which have received several awards, including from the German Academy for Children’s and Youth Literature. Her work as both author and illustrator has had a significant impact on children’s literature.
Her recent books include Wenn Mama Fuchs schläft (“When Mama Fox Sleeps”), a story about a little fox trying to understand why his mother is behaving differently than usual; Zicke Zacke Igelkacke, in which two children meet two baby hedgehogs on their aunt’s farm; and Ein Jahr mit Maus und Eichhorn (“A Year with Mouse and Squirrel”), a charming story about the changing seasons experienced by a mouse and her friend, a squirrel.
