Olaf Kühl

Olaf Kühl, born in 1955 in Wilhelmshaven, is a writer and literary translator. He completed his doctorate on the prose of Witold Gombrowicz. From 1996 to 2021 he was the Berlin Senate Chancellery’s advisor on Russia. Rowohlt Berlin has published three novels and the non-fiction book Z. Kurze Geschichte Russlands, von seinem Ende her gesehen, which was number one on the best non-fiction lists of NZZ, WELT, WDR and others. He is a multi-award-winning translator of authors such as Witold Gombrowicz, Dorota Masłowska and Szczepan Twardoch (most recently Zero Line about the war in Ukraine).
