Yevheniia Henova

Yevheniia Henova is a Ukrainian journalist, writer, media trainer, and holds a PhD in Philology. Born in the Odesa region, she has worked for more than twenty years in journalism, strategic communications, and media education. She is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Intent, a leading regional media outlet in southern Ukraine, and an expert in strategic communications, media literacy, and community engagement. She lives and works in Odesa. In both her journalism and literary writing, Henova explores memory, the human experience of war, Crimea, southern Ukraine, and the stories of people facing difficult moral choices. She believes that personal testimonies often reveal an era more profoundly than statistics, and that preserving individual stories helps build a shared memory and a sense of collective responsibility. For this reason, her books focus on people whose courage, dignity, and loyalty to their country inspire others to endure. She is the author of the documentary book Crimean Tatar Families (2024) and the novel My Grandmothers Did Not Live to See the War (2025), and co-author of Free Voices of Crimea (2025). Henova is the recipient of the Smoloskyp Literary Award (2024).
