
Dumitru Crudu
Dumitru Crudu (born 8 November 1967 in Flutura, Ungheni) is a poet, novelist, playwright and essayist. He studied in Chișinău, Tbilisi, Brașov and Sibiu. Together with Marius Ianuș, he launched the Fracturist manifesto in 1998–1999, influencing Romanian poetry at the beginning of the 2000s. He coordinates the Vlad Ioviță Creative Writing Workshop and is a constant presence in the cultural press. He writes poetry, short fiction, novels and drama, addressing marginality, war, precarity and everyday life with tragicomic energy. His play The Choice of Alexandru Suțțo was recognised by UNITER, while Greetings to Trotsky received the Romanian Academy’s Ion Creangă Prize.
