Vanni Bianconi

Vanni Bianconi was born in Locarno (Switzerland) in 1977 and lives between Locarno and London. He worked as Head of culture at the Swiss State Broadcaster (RSI), and as artistic director of the festival of literature and translation Babel, of writing programmes in the adoptive languages such as “L’altra lingua”, and of the multilingual platforms and. He’s currently the artistic director of. As a writer, he published four poetry collections in Italian and two narrative essays collections in English; his poems, translated into a dozen of languages, have been published in book form, magazines and anthologies. He translated works by W.H. Auden, William Faulkner, W. Somerset Maugham, among others, He was awarded the Schiller Prize and the Tirinnanzi Prize, the Marazza Prize for his translation of Auden, and was shortlisted for the European Poet of Freedom Prize.
