
Dan Lungu
Dan Lungu (born 15 September 1969 in Botoșani) is a novelist, short-story writer and sociologist. He studied sociology and political science and taught at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași. He served as Director of the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iași and initiated the Iași International Festival of Literature and Translation. His fiction, translated into numerous languages, explores post-communist Romania, social memory, migration and everyday life through humour, oral language and precise sociological observation. His novel I’m an Old Communist Hag! achieved wide international circulation and was adapted for film and stage. France awarded him the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
