
Alexander Rubel
Alexander Rubel (born in 1969 in Kaiserslautern) is a German historian, classical archaeologist and scholar based in Iași. He studied history, German studies, classics and philosophy at the University of Konstanz, where he completed a doctorate in ancient history; he also holds a doctorate in German studies from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași. He is Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch, and an associate lecturer at the university in Iași. His research focuses on ancient Greece and Rome, religion, Romanisation, migration and the reception of Antiquity. Fear and Loathing in Ancient Athens received the Romanian Academy’s Vasile Pârvan Prize.
