Lucian Dan Teodorovici

Lucian Dan Teodorovici (born 17 June 1975 in Rădăuți) is a novelist, short-story writer, playwright, screenwriter and theatre director. He was editor-in-chief at Polirom Publishing House, where he founded the Ego. Proză series. Since 2017 he has directed the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iași and the Iași International Festival of Literature and Translation. His books have been translated into numerous languages. The novel Matei Brunul received major literary awards in Romania, while its Polish edition won the Readers’ Prize at the ANGELUS Central European Literature Award. In 2025 France named him Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. His work explores memory, mechanisms of power, individual fragility and the absurdity of history.
