Clara Riso

Clara Riso holds a bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures—Portuguese Studies from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lisbon and a master’s degree in Comparative Literature from the same faculty, with a thesis titled Booklets: Memory and Montage—The Cases of Carlos de Oliveira and Herberto Helder. She holds a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Portuguese Culture from the Camões Institute / Open University. She has a master’s degree in Portuguese as a Second/Foreign Language from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto, where she presented the thesis Transnational Artistic Mobility. She has worked in the areas of Production and Internationalization with artistic collectives and coordinated the two editions of Grandes Lições, publications of the Gulbenkian program on contemporary culture—Próximo Futuro—as well as the edition Melankólia ezerrel (Budapest 2013), an anthology of contemporary Portuguese dramatic literature. She was a researcher at the Center for Theater Studies and the Center for Comparative Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. Between 2004 and 2014, she served as a lecturer at the Camões Institute, where she was in charge of the institute’s Portuguese Language Center in Budapest (Hungary) and Belgrade (Serbia), a role in which she was also co-responsible for external cultural activities. She has directed Casa Fernando Pessoa since July 2014.
